Lee, NH - On
Saturday 10/4, as part of a doubleheader weekend, the NEMA
Midgets and LITES rolled into Lee USA Speedway for Russ
Conway’s Oktoberfest, marking their final appearance
together for the 2025 season. The event was held in honor of
the members of the NEMA Hall of Fame, capping off the season
with a tribute to the legends of the sport.
In the NEMA Midgets
feature, Jack Dumas #77 and Paul Scally #30 led the field to
the green flag for a fast-paced 25-lap showdown. Scally
wasted no time, jumping to the lead from the outside pole as
the pack charged into turn one. Behind him, Joey Bailey #A1
and Matt O’Brien #16 battled side by side, while Randy
Cabral, piloting the Bertrand Motorsports #74, surged
forward and slotted into third before the first lap was
complete.
As the field began to
stretch out, Scally maintained a commanding lead, setting
the pace ahead of O’Brien, Cabral, and Bailey. A tight
battle for fifth emerged between Mike Horn #93, Avery Stoehr
in the Bertrand Motorsports #39, and Brayden Egan #3m. The
trio diced it up for several laps until lap 10, when Stoehr
powered into turn three and used a strong run off turn four
to take the position from Horn on the front stretch.
At the halfway mark,
Scally had built a nearly half-straightaway advantage over
O’Brien and Cabral, who each held steady in second and third
with comfortable gaps behind them.
As the laps ticked
down, Stoehr began pressuring Bailey for fourth, working the
high side and searching for a way past. Despite his efforts,
the leaders remained unchanged up front.
In a dominant
performance, Paul Scally led all 25 laps to claim victory in
the NEMA Hall of Fame Classic, crossing the line with nearly
a full straightaway lead. O’Brien secured second, followed
by Cabral to complete the podium.
In a crucial part of
the season where all points matter for the championship,
Scally, who was looking to claim his first NEMA championship
commented on his win in victory lane, “I have been coming to
Lee for a long time and have a mountain of second and
thirds, this win has been alluding me, I am so ecstatic to
win here at Oktoberfest. We had a special car right off the
trailer and it just felt so good, there is a huge points
battle going on and I think I closed the gap. So tomorrow is
another day.”
To round out the top 10
were strong finishes by Paul Scally #30, Matt O’Brien #16,
Randy Cabral #74, Joey Bailey #A1, Avery Stoehr #39, Brayden
Egan #3m, Mike Horn #93, Lee Bundy #49, Mike Pernesiglio
#69, and Kyle Valeri #21.
Later in the racing
program, the NEMA LITES rolled onto the track for their
25-lap feature event. Chris Vose, piloting the Vosey
Motorsports #3, lined up on the pole alongside Tyson Adamik
in the Adamik Motorsports #88. As the green flag waved, Vose
charged into turn one with the early lead, followed closely
by Adamik and Tiana Kibbe in the Kibbe Racing #94.
Vose quickly
established a strong pace at the front, pulling away
slightly from the tightly packed group behind. Adamik held
second while Kibbe, Kyle Valeri in the Valeri Motorsports
#17, and Denis Potter #03 engaged in a close battle for
position, running nose to tail over the next several laps.
By lap 8, Randy Cabral
in the #47 was making his presence known. Starting 11th, the
veteran driver had powered his way into the top five and was
now within striking distance of the leaders. A fierce battle
for third broke out between Kibbe, Valeri, and the
hard-charging Cabral. On lap 9, Cabral dove to the inside of
Valeri exiting turn two and pulled alongside him down the
backstretch. The two raced door-to-door into turn three, but
Cabral carried the momentum off turn four to claim fourth.
With third place now in
his sights, Cabral stayed glued to Kibbe’s bumper down the
front stretch. On the following lap, he took another shot
down the backstretch, but Kibbe held strong, fending off the
challenge. Lap after lap, Cabral remained relentless, and on
lap 12, he finally made the move stick, diving low into turn
three and completing the pass for third coming out of turn
four.
Out front, Vose
continued to lead, but Cabral, the fastest car on the track,
was quickly closing in. On lap 14, Cabral reeled in Adamik
and made a clean pass down the backstretch to take over
second.
With the leader now in
his sights, Cabral began chipping away at Vose’s
half-straightaway advantage. By lap 16, he was on Vose’s
rear bumper. Cabral tried the inside going into turn one,
pulling alongside, but Vose used the outside line to
maintain his lead. A few laps later, Cabral switched it up,
going high into turn three and crossing under Vose exiting
turn four. With a great run down the front stretch, he dove
to the inside entering turn one and took the lead going into
turn two.
Once out front, Cabral
began to check out, pulling away from Vose and Adamik.
Meanwhile, a new battle for third developed between Adamik
and Mike Pernesiglio in the #28. On lap 21, Pernesiglio got
a run exiting turn two and raced side by side with Adamik
down the backstretch. Coming out of turn four, Pernesiglio
powered ahead to take over third.
With just a handful of
laps remaining, Pernesiglio set his sights on second-place
Vose, but time ran out. At the checkered flag, it was Randy
Cabral with a commanding straightaway lead, taking the win
over Vose and Pernesiglio, who completed the podium.
In a victory lane
interview, Cabral commented on his win, “I love this place,
this place means a lot to me, my best friend Norm Wren used
to own this track. This win goes out to them. Norm was
riding with me today. I just love racing Lee. My crew gave
me the car that we needed to win this race, but this will
probably be the one time in my life, I’d rather see second
place win the race. I wanted Chris to win this one and saw
him up front. I was excited and rooting for him but I
started catching him and I can’t just let him go and have to
make him earn his first one.”
To round out the top 10
were strong finished by Randy Cabral #47, Chris Vose #3,
Mike Pernesiglio #28, Tyson Adamik #88, Tiana Kibbe #94,
Joey Bailey #35, Dennis Potter #03, Zach Martinez #7, Kyle
Valeri #17, and Dylan Coutu.
