Trainor Triumphs in Thriller: First Star
Classic Win |
Epping, NH - This past Saturday night, the NEMA
LITES roared into the legendary "Place to Race" ,Star
Speedway for one of the most iconic and anticipated events
on the calendar: The 60th Annual Star Classic.
It was
Tyson Adamik in the Adamik Motorsports #88 and Dylan Coutu
in the REDline Motorsports #53 who led the field to the
green for 30 uninterrupted laps of high-speed, high-stakes
action. The two raced door-to-door through turns one and
two, but as they thundered down the backstretch, Coutu
tucked in behind Adamik, with Tiana Kibbe in the #94
settling into third.
As the field began to spread out
over the opening laps, Adamik started to stretch his
advantage over Coutu and Kibbe. Behind them, the battle for
third was heating up. The always-exciting Paul "The
Dangerous One" Scally in the #30, along with Kyle Valeri in
the #17, began to close in on Kibbe's rear bumper, both
looking for an opportunity to move up.
On lap 5,
Scally made a move to the inside of Kibbe going into turn
one, but the #94 held her line and managed to fend off the
challenge, opening up a car-length buffer as they exited the
corner.
By lap 7, Adamik still led the charge with
Coutu, Kibbe, and Scally in pursuit. Meanwhile, a new battle
emerged for fifth between Valeri and Jake Trainor in the
Matt Seymour Racing #29s. The two raced side-by-side for
several laps until Trainor finally edged ahead and took over
the position.
Just a few laps later, on lap 11,
Scally reeled Kibbe back in and dove to the inside down the
backstretch. The two raced side-by-side into turn three, but
as they came onto the front stretch, Scally muscled his way
into third.
As the leaders began navigating lapped
traffic, Adamik extended his lead to nearly a full
straightaway over Coutu and Scally. Trainor, now up to
fourth, began to close the gap on Scally as the race neared
its halfway point.
For several laps, Adamik looked
untouchable, holding a commanding lead. But on lap 20, his
momentum was interrupted by heavy lapped traffic. Though he
managed to keep the car under power, the delay proved
costly. Coutu capitalized, diving into the lead, followed
closely by Trainor, who now took over second, with Scally
hanging on in third.
On the following lap, Coutu dug
in to defend his new position, fending off pressure from
Trainor and Valeri. Scally, unfortunately, was forced to
retire to the infield, ending what had been a strong run.
Lap 23 brought action as Trainor closed in on Coutu's
rear bumper. Coming out of turn two, he dove to the inside
and the two raced side-by-side down the backstretch. With a
bold move into turn three, Trainor took the lead, bringing
the crowd to their feet.
With just a handful of laps
remaining, the action intensified. Trainor began to stretch
his lead, while the battle for second erupted between Coutu,
Valeri, and PJ Stergios in the second Matt Seymour Racing
entry, the #29. The trio ran nose-to-tail, each driver
probing for a chance to strike.
On lap 26, Valeri
made his move, as he dove low into turn one to challenge
Coutu. But Coutu held firm, shutting the door and defending
the position with precision. Just behind them, Stergios
watched it all unfold, waiting patiently for the perfect
moment to pounce.
Then, the moment came.
As
the checkered flag soared through the night sky, Jake
Trainor stormed across the line to claim his first Star
Classic victory in dominant fashion, opening up nearly a
straightaway over the field in the closing laps. Coutu held
on for a hard-fought second, while Stergios launched a
final-lap attack, edging out Valeri in a thrilling drag race
out of turn four to steal the final spot on the podium.
To round out the top 10, where strong finishes by Jake
Trainor #29s, Dylan Coutu #53, PJ Stergios #29, Kyle Valeri
#17, Tyson Adamik #88, Mike Pernesiglio #28, Tiana Kibbe
#94, Brayden Egan #59, Zach Martinez #7, Randy Cabral #47.
The NEMA LITES are off this weekend, but the action
returns September 27th at White Mountain Motorsports Park
for the highly anticipated Jim O'Brien Memorial!
As
the season winds down, the championship battle is heating
up, with just three races remaining, every lap counts. Don't
miss your chance to witness some of the most intense,
side-by-side racing of the year.
We'll see you at the
track! |
